Gear Selection: Nike Free Run 5.0

NIke Free 5.0
I’m going to be dusting off the pair of custom Nike Free 5.0s that Cheng got me for my birthday. They survived all the stomping around I did in Taiwan this summer and have been holding up well during some of the smaller runs (2-5 miles) I’ve done over the last few months.

Anybody have any concerns that there won’t be enough support for the full 13 miles? What are you guys wearing?

    do lots of strength training to build up your support muscles. lots of folks get injured trying to go too far too early in “barefoot” and minimal shoes, so take it real easy.

    that said, jeremiah did goruck in NB minimus, so it’s an admirable goal.

      good call, I’ve got a pair of old Lunars that I did the Water to Wine half in a few years ago that I could use as a backup if need be.

      i saw an article in a running magazine that said you can get all the benefit of the barefoot running by doing it 20min a week. so yeah.

        So do a 20 minute walk to supplement your barefoot running or are they just saying you can strengthen those same muscles by going for a big walk?
