nike my stride acquired

first things first: cool bag:

second thing second: this wasn’t really an exclusive event, it was just a nifty marketing ploy to get me in the store. anyone who wants to trek to one of the four stores (i went all the way down to stanford) that are carrying the My Stride line can cruise in and cop a pair.

all that said, i am pretty stoked on the product. it’s basically a couple models of shoe – lunaracer and lunarglide – that have half a sole. they call that outer shell part the “carrier.” the racer is a little lighter, the glide is a little heavier but has more structure.

once you’ve picked a carrier, you get to pick a “core,” which is basically a super huge insole.

there are four options: “soft” (lunarlon cushion), “responsive” (stiffer, with a tiny zoom air insert) and then a “stable” flavor of each (has a plastic cagey thing to help with over pronation). they let me try out all the combos on a treadmill and ultimately i went with the glide carrier and the soft insert. i may go back and scoop up the responsive one later, just to check it out.

i like that you can switch out components per scenario and i bet it could be awesome for people that need the stability option for just one foot. i hope it takes off so there are more styles added to the program.

i know it’s not for everyone, but i’m big into Nikeā„¢ NIKE+ activity tracking systems.

nikeplus_sensorway back when the first shoe pod/iPod combo came out, it appealed to the apple fanboy, nike fanboy and early adopter in me and was the first thing since high school soccer practice that got me running regularly.

it may not be the most advanced or accurate of all available systems, but the feedback it provides has kept me running and it’s weird how a little light-up bracelet on your wrist can help motivate you to take the stairs instead of the elevator every day…

if you’re on there, let’s be friends!

first run since the accident. shoulder never even twinged.

my nipples, on the other hand, seem to have lost any toughness they’d built up… owie!

Gear Selection: Nike Free Run 5.0

NIke Free 5.0
I’m going to be dusting off the pair of custom Nike Free 5.0s that Cheng got me for my birthday. They survived all the stomping around I did in Taiwan this summer and have been holding up well during some of the smaller runs (2-5 miles) I’ve done over the last few months.

Anybody have any concerns that there won’t be enough support for the full 13 miles? What are you guys wearing?
